We are dedicated to sharing this important and fascinating work with you in the clearest and most useful ways possible.
We have both completed a full-time three year training course, have taught extensively in private practice and are involved in the training of new Alexander teachers. We are members of both Gesellschaft für F.M. Alexander-Technik Österreich and The Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique and adhere to a published code of ethical and professional standards.
Regina Stratil completed her Alexander Technique training with Karen Wentworth in London (2011-14) and has been running her own teaching practice ever since. Prior to this, she completed a Master’s degree in Historical Comparative Linguistics (Indo-European Studies) at the University of Vienna, after which she gained several years of valuable professional and life experience. She discovered the Alexander Technique thanks to violin lessons and continues to be amazed by the value of Alexander Technique skills for acquiring, developing, and enjoying a highly complex skill like playing an instrument. Being a long-time and dedicated Aikido practitioner provides her with further opportunities for kinaesthetic cultivation and refinement. Engaging with the challenges of specialised activities like playing an instrument or practising a martial art highlights for Regina the huge potential of integrating the Alexander Technique into one’s daily life, of learning to notice how we are obstructing ourselves even during ordinary activities like sitting and standing, and how we can gradually obstruct ourselves less. Her love of the arts (including history!), movement, and contact with people informs and inspires her teaching.
In addition to her private teaching practice:
In 2017 and 2018 she taught at two AT teacher training courses in London (Alexander Technique Studio and Constructive Teaching Centre) for one term each. In 2018 she moved to Austria and since 2022 has been assisting Jean Fischer with his teacher training course at the Alexander Technique Studio Graz.
In 2014-2018 Regina was Assistant Manager at the Walter Carrington Educational Trust and Archivist at the Walter Carrington Archive. Since 2014 she has been assisting the Alexander Technique specialist publisher Mouritz. She is the editor of the Berlin Congress Papers, and since 2023 she has been on the editorial team, and also an author, for Poise. Regina’s article ‘Virginia and Leonard Woolf’s lessons with F. M. Alexander’ was published in Poise, Vol. 2 (2024).
Regina and three colleagues pioneered an Alexander Technique initiative for people diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease (PD) in London with the support of the Walter Carrington Educational Trust. As part of this group, Regina gave workshops and one-to-one sessions for people living with PD (including their care partners), and she was instrumental in organising a postgraduate training for AT teachers in 2016-18. A report on this initiative was published in STATNews in 2018, even more information is available here.
Regina has researched the life and work of Irene Tasker, one of the first assistants of F. M. Alexander and influential teacher of the Alexander Technique, and written a comprehensive biography. Irene Tasker – Her Life and Work with the Alexander Technique was first published in 2020, reviews here and here. Regina has presented her research at various symposia, among them the 12th International Alexander Technique Congress in Berlin in 2022.
Regina is a member of GATOE, ATVD and STAT. Since October 2024 she is chair of GATOE.
